This is one of a pair of hanging lacquer and paper lanterns crafted in 1924. Traditionally, these were used when a shrine had a festival. Families who were members of the shrine would hang the lanterns in front of their home. These are decorated in high relief gold lacquer with the falcon feather family crest. Each is stored in its original signed storage box. The artist is Tanimoto Yosuke. Very good condition.

This unusually small late 1800s jizai-kagi or kettle-hook hanger was once used for suspending a kettle over an open fire. It is crafted of beautifully grained keyaki (zelkova). This type of hook is named after the household god, Ebisu (deity of commerce). This shape reminded the Japanese of Ebisus court cap, the rear part of which sticks up like the taller section of this hanger. It has a wonderful patina and is in good condition except for some age cracks.

In this early to mid-1900s ikebana basket, extremely thin strips of bamboo have been woven in a random pattern, in multiple layers, to produce the effect of a birds nest. Partially disguised bamboo-root stalks function as feet. The handle and opening have been formed to suggest the moon. Good condition with minor splits on the feet.
