This mid-20th century hanhaba obi is decorated with stylized long-eared rabbits and waves. Japanese legends link the rabbit to the moon where it is believed to pound rice cakes. The moon is depicted here surrounding a temple scene. There is some thread loss and slight wear along the seam.

Peonies and scrolling ropes dominate this elegant floral themed maru obi. It is done in shades of turquoise, royal blue, rust, green and cream on a muted gold background and embellished with gold metallic threads. Mid-1900’s. Minor wear along the seam.

This early to mid-1900’s maru obi is heavily stitched with a motif of chrysanthemum, plum and camellia blossoms amidst a sho, a type of mouth organ used for court music. The colors are royal blue, pink, gray, rust and purple with metallic gold thread highlights. Signs of wear appear along the fold.

This mid-1900’s maru obi is decorated with phoenix and four-petaled flower diamonds. The cream crepe background is accented with muted shades of plum, turquoise, teal, rust and green. Highlights are in gold and silver metallic threads. Very good condition.
