This mid-1900’s Japanese cast-iron tea kettle is completely covered in low relief with chrysanthemum blossoms. The design is repeated on the border of the lid. It has a pine cone shaped finial. An unidentified signature of the maker appears next to the spout. Good condition with normal rusting. Dimensions: 9” x 6”

This early to mid-1900’s sculptural ikebana basket takes the form of a Japanese lantern. The hexagonal base is supported by bamboo-root stalks with bamboo root incorporated into the rim and handle. Intricately woven rattan knots and stitches provide strength, attach elements and serve as an important decorative accent. Illegible signature on the bottom. This mid-20th century hanhaba obi is decorated with stylized long-eared rabbits and waves. Japanese legends link the rabbit to the moon where it is believed to pound rice cakes. The moon is depicted here surrounding a temple scene. There is some thread loss and slight wear along the seam. Dimensions: 12’ x 6”
