This 19th century boxwood netsuke has been carved in the shape of Daikoku, one of the seven gods of fortune. He is depicted leaning against a rice bale with his money sack and magic mallet slightly concealed. This carving has plenty of charm and stylization with layers of patina associated with age. The signature on the bottom reads Gazan. It is in very good condition.
