This early to mid-1900’s Karatsu style chawan or tea bowl has a wonderful thick frothy ash glaze spilling over a deep iron glazed base. The artist's seal is stamped on the bottom. There is a small kiln chip on the rim.

This red and black fukuro obi is decorated with traditional paulownia and chrysanthemum family crests and embellished with gold and silver metallic threads. The lining is a solid black. Subtle staining on the cream part of the paulownia flowers visible in the photos.

This mid-1900’s Japanese cobalt blue hibachi is decorated with a peony motif in shades of light purple. An illegible signature is stamped on the bottom. Very good condition.

This fukuro obi is decorated with a stylized flower inside overlapping circles in a leaf pattern. The dominant colors are tones of red with embellishments of gold and silver metallic threads. The back is solid red. Very good condition.

This early to mid-1900’s ikebana basket is distinctly Japanese with its rich nemagaridake bamboo, organic form and irregular weave. Reflecting sensitivity to nature and design, this artist integrated bamboo root into the body and vine around the rim. It has a copper liner. Excellent condition.

This glazed stoneware jar from a kiln in Kyushu was once used as a container for pickled plums. Thick black glaze with a light blue interior. Very good condition.
